The desire to show the collection’s works of Lone Haugaard Madsen has long existed, also in order to counterweigh the many more stringent, minimalist exhibitions. The idea was to present her work together with that of Franz West, Georg Herold, and Heimo Zobernig. The working title of the exhibition was low tech. Yet while conceiving the exhibition, I realized that Lone’s works would lose their unique strength if they were “merely displayed”. Only Lone Haugaard Madsen could arrange her works in a way that would allow their great quality to shine. It was thus only logical to ask the artist if she would be interested in curating the exhibition herself and to show her works from the collection at Strausberger Platz. Seeing the connections between the three older artists and her own work, Lone agreed immediately. Lone threw herself into the task. Working intently, she made her selection from the collection. She also created a number of new works specifically for the space at Strausberger Platz that would transform the entire space into a sophisticated installation. The result speaks for itself. I am extremely grateful, Lone.
