In the former Reifenlager (tire warehouse) of FAHRBEREITSCHAFT, we present performance films by the artist Bruce Nauman from the late 1960s. Originally, the medium of film was just a means to an end, used to document the artwork itself, the performance. Films became marketable objects not least because the art market started limiting editions. The films by Nauman shown at FAHRBEREITSCHAFT, however, originate from a time when editions of Nauman’s films were not yet limited.
Is only limited art valuable? This question is explored in the series unlimited. Two films by Nauman are presented at monthly intervals over a period of six months. Unlimited: Bruce Nauman is the prelude to the exhibition series that continues with films by other artists.
